The Cleveland Shakespeare Festival
THE MERCHANT OF VENICE
opens July 17, runs through August 2

Filled with contrasts and controversy, containing comic elements mixed with trenchant comment on the nature of intolerance, justice and forgiveness, this is a play not easily categorized. The merchant Antonio is approached for a loan by his dear friend Bassanio so that he may woo an heiress in another city. Antonio, cash-poor until his ships return from their trade route, in turn borrows from the moneylender Shylock, who sees in this arrangement the possibility to exact a gruesome revenge for the years of injustice he's suffered at the hands of Antonio and the rest of the city.

Lantern Tours at Lake County History Center

Do ghosts and spirits really haunt the former Lake County Poorhouse?

Come take a walk through the long dark corridors with nothing but a candle to illuminate the way. Escape into the past as our guides provide you with an eerie yet fun-filled adventure! You'll visit all the locations around the Lake County History Center where shadows and ghostly figures have said to have been sighted. You'll go to areas where many have reported hearing heard creepy sounds and felt unseen hands touch them. You'll hear stories of unbelievable historically documented events that have taken place in the past, including those in the infirmary and attic. And, we'll even visit the foreboding cells used in the bygone days of the Lake County Poorhouse. We will demonstrate and you may borrow "ghost hunting" equipment, such as EMF detectors and dowsing rods, while on your tour! (or bring your own equipment – paranormal activity has been documented many times on previous explorations of the LCHS)

The 39th Annual Boardman Rotary Oktoberfestival is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4th in Boardman Park. Attended annually by thousands, Oktoberfestival has been Boardman Rotary Club's top fund raising project since its inception. We welcome you to enjoy a wonderful fall day, the aroma of great food, kid's entertainment and of course plenty of crafts to please everyone.

One hundred percent of the proceeds (after expenses) raised by the all-volunteer Boardman Rotary Club goes to fund service projects, both locally and internationally. In the last 10 years, Boardman Rotary has donated over $400,000 to various organizations, charities and service projects.

The event started in 1976, as a community day to promote Boardman and the residents of the Township. Today, Oktoberfestival has grown into the area's largest one day arts and crafts event, drawing vendors from five states. Visitors to this annual fall celebration come from neighboring states and often arrive by the bus load.

Christmas Candlelightings
Event Organizer – Debbie McDonald
Historic Roscoe Village
December 19, 2015 – 6pm outdoors at the Main Stage
Admission and parking is free

This beautiful outdoors event is a wonderful way to begin your Holiday Season. The gathering of guests near and far brings a special ceremony where you will experience the sound of choirs singing Christmas Carols, the reading of a Christmas story and the lighting of the 35 foot Christmas tree. The program continues as an honorary candlelighter first lights their candle and then begins lighting others candles. As the flame is shared throughout the crowd, each candle is lit, and the guests join in singing "Silent Night", the sound is that of one heavenly choir. Be sure to make this special event a part of your family traditions.
