The Santaland Diaries

Produced by Cleveland Public Theatre, The Santaland Diaries is best-selling author David Sedaris' semi-autobiographical story of a jaded, 33-year-old out-of-work actor who takes a job as "Crumpet the Elf" at a Macy's department store. As thousands of holiday customers gaily tromp through his display, Crumpet regales the audience with hilarious observations about the realities of holiday cheer, all performed with a sardonic wit that has made The Santaland Diaries an enduring holiday favorite. Starring Ray Caspio.

A CELTIC CHRISTMAS
Friday, December 16, 7pm to 9pm
Now in its 20th Season, Tomaseen Foley's A Celtic Christmas recreates the joy and innocence of a night before Christmas in a remote farmhouse in the parish of Teampall, an Ghleanntain in the west of Ireland – when the neighboring families gather around the fire to grace the wintry night with the haunting melodies of traditional Irish Christmas carols, to raise the rafters with the joy of their music and to knock sparks off the flagstone floor with traditional dances and to fill the night with laughter of their stories.

Performing for the first time at the Medina Performing Arts Center, 851 Weymouth Road, Medina, Ohio 44256! Doors open at 6:30pm. Tickets available by calling the box office at 440/554-2394.

How I Learned to Drive
Written by Paula Vogel
March 4-26, 2017 • Allen Theatre

Buckle up. It's going to be a bumpy ride. Li'l Bit takes us on a no holds barred trip back in time to her adolescence in 1960s Maryland and her complicated relationship with an older man. A deeply compassionate look at how we are shaped by the people who hurt us, How I Learned to Drive masterfully veers in and out of personal memory and deftly traverses comedy, drama and farce. CPH Artistic Director Laura Kepley steers Paula Vogel's Pulitzer Prize-winning contemporary masterpiece.

Between Riverside and Crazy
Written by Stephen Adly Guirgis
April 1-23, 2017 • Outcalt Theatre

Ex-cop Walter "Pops" Washington is NOT one to let things go. NOT the memory of his recently deceased wife. NOT the racially-charged lawsuit he filed years ago against the NYPD. And most definitely NOT the impressive rent-controlled apartment he shares with his parolee son and ragtag surrogate family. But, eviction notices and ultimatums are piling up, and Pops is caught between losing his honor and losing his home. Bringing together the poetic and the profane, this 2015 Pulitzer Prize winner is an exuberant and darkly comic tale of truth, family, and pride.

Single show tickets go on sale in August, 2016. Call 216-241-6000 or visit clevelandplayhouse.com for more information.
