Ragnar Kjartansson

"The Visitors considers and celebrates artistic utopias and friendships in a way that is ultimately deeply moving
and life-affirming," says MOCA Executive Director Jill Snyder. "When it debuted in New York, this work was consistently cited by critics and audiences alike as one of the most popular, exuberant and affecting exhibitions of the past year. It even became something of a cult phenomenon. We expect it to cast a similar spell on Cleveland."

The Visitors
Ragnar Kjartansson

"The Visitors considers and celebrates artistic utopias and friendships in a way that is ultimately deeply moving
and life-affirming," says MOCA Executive Director Jill Snyder. "When it debuted in New York, this work was consistently cited by critics and audiences alike as one of the most popular, exuberant and affecting exhibitions of the past year. It even became something of a cult phenomenon. We expect it to cast a similar spell on Cleveland."

Memorial Day Weekend Civil War Encampment in Burton, Ohio

The Geauga County Historical Society will again host a Civil War Encampment on Memorial Day Weekend 2015 on the grounds of Century Village Museum in Burton, Ohio. On Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and 24, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., reenactors depicting Union and Confederate soldiers, camp followers, and traveling merchants will provide a living history of struggles and tribulations associated with the Great War of the Rebellion.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the last year of the Civil War and the end of that conflict. It is also the year in which President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated and the year in which the rebuilding of the nation, so violently dissected and damaged by the war, began. Come and see the soldiers demonstrate military maneuvers and take part in skirmishes. Here the roar of cannon. Learn about camp life, including information on the food that was prepared and eaten and the diseases that killed as many soldiers as the bullets and artillery. Converse with the reenactors who will discuss their weaponry, uniforms, and military regimen, express the fears and hopes period soldiers, talk about the long marches and taxing encampments in all forms of weather, and respond to your questions about civilian as well as military life.

Cost: Adults, $7.00; children 6 to 12, $4.00; children 5 and under, free. Food and drink will be available on the grounds. Period merchandise will be offered for sale. Selected historical buildings at the museum will be open to the public. No pets permitted.
