The University of Akron presents Choreographers' Workshop

Akron OH – The University of Akron Dance Program presents Choreographers' Workshop on October 23-25 at 7:30 p.m. at Daum Theatre in Kolbe Hall, 328 Buchtel Common, on the UA campus. All proceeds from the performances support scholarships for talented undergraduate dance students.

Choreographers' Workshop is an annual event in which The University of Akron dance students have the opportunity to create and present original works, as well as run and produce a live dance performance. Showcasing the talents of UA dancers, this diverse performance features an array styles and approaches to creating dance.

Tickets are $7 and will be available at the door one hour before each performance. Bring two canned food items to receive $2 off of admission. Items will be donated to The Akron Food Bank in support of its commitment to provide emergency food to our neighbors in need. To reserve tickets please call 330-972-7895.

Old Fashioned safe Trick or Treat in the Village

Strongsville Historical Society is having the 6th annual Old Fashioned Trick or Treat in the Strongsville Historic Village for ages preschool through kindergarten. Admission to this event is one non-perishable food item or $1 per person donated to the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank. Children must be accompanied by adults. Strongsville Historic Village consists of eight historic buildings on two acres at the corner of Pearl Road and Zverina Drive just two blocks North of Royalton Road (Rte. 82). The "Villagers" will be in costumes appropriate for the "wee" ones. They will be handing out treats (some candy-some prizes) to the costumed guests. There will be games and refreshments. Ghostly Activities planned for the J.E. Reeves Home

The Dover Historical Society has added some spooky new additions to the calendar this October. On October 25, from 5-8pm the Reeves Home turns into a haunted mansion as we do scary tours of the house. "Ghosts" and "ghouls" will wander the halls and you never know who you will encounter on your tour of the first and second floors. Each room will tell its own scary story. Take away Halloween crafts will be available for kids. This family friendly event is $5 for adults and $2 for children. Costumes will get visitors $1 admission. Tours will begin on the front porch of the J.E. Reeves Home.

A paranormal investigation of the J.E. Reeves Home will take place on October 25th from 8pm until midnight. The Amish Paranormal Society will be conducting a paranormal investigation of the Reeves Home and you are invited to join in the action. Private ghost hut tours will be available to the first lucky thirteen who sign up. The cost of the ghost hunt is $50 per person with all participants receiving a commemorative t-shirt. Don't miss this chance to see and be part of a paranormal investigation.

The Dover Historical Society will also be getting into the Halloween spirit for the Annual Fall Lecture. The lecture will be held on November 1st at 10am and is free to the public. Director Tammi Mackey-Shrum and Curator Tabitha Johnson will cover the topics of Victorian Superstitions and the origins of Halloween.

The McKinley Presidential Library & Museum will offer a special open-hearth cooked dinner on Friday December 12 from 6:00-8:30 PM. Doors will open at 6:00 and guests will be able to observe the meal being prepared at the hearth. Dinner will be served at 6:30 in the Museum's Street of Shops.
