Chardon.... Home for the Holidays! The Chardon Square Association is hosting Home for the Holidays on Saturday, December 13th, 2014.

Many local merchants, on and off the Square, will be featuring Open Houses this day, as a way to invite you to the country for a unique holiday experience.

The day's festivities begin with a Breakfast with Santa at Pilgrim Christian Church, located at 202 South Hambden Street, from 9:00-11:00. Pictures with Santa will be available to purchase.

A Gingerbread House Contest, made by individuals and professionals, will be on display at The Nest, located at 520 Water Street.

Take a stroll down Christmas Tree Alley, in the Park, while listening to holiday music. Take the opportunity to visit the many Shops and Restaurants that will be having special sales, offers, and refreshments. A complete list of participants will be available on the website and at the participating shops.

Carriage Rides around the Square will be available from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and are free of charge. The Carriage can be accessed at Antiques on the Square, and The Carriage Trade Boutique. The park will be lit with thousands of twinkling lights, and the Geauga Lyric Theatre will be featuring Annie Warbucks.

Each participant will be collecting food ,and or, personal care products, to be donated to area food pantries. A list of desired items will be available.

BRING THE KIDS TO MEET SANTA AT THE CHALET
TOBOGGAN CHUTES

The Chalet in Cleveland Metroparks Mill Stream Run Reservation is the place to be for holiday cheer when Santa visits for a special breakfast from 8-11 a.m. on Sunday, December 14.

Families have two packages to choose from, a holiday crafters ticket at $18 per person or a toboggan time ticket at $25 per person. Both options include a delicious pancake breakfast (served from 8-9:30 a.m.) including sausage, pastries, cereal, coffee, juice and milk, a visit from Santa during breakfast, a holiday craft to take home, face painting and a winter-themed photo booth picture.

The toboggan time ticket also includes unlimited rides on the Chalet's toboggan chutes from 8-11 a.m. All toboggan riders must be 42 inches or taller and must wear gloves or mittens to ride. Riders plunge 70 feet down this one-of-a-kind ride - the only public toboggan chutes in Ohio. Toboggans can reach speeds up to 50 mph depending upon the weather conditions (the refrigerated ice chutes can operate with or without snow)! The Chalet also features two fireplaces, a large-screen TV, indoor restrooms and a loft with video games.

Santa returns to the Chalet for a holiday kick-off party from 6 - 9 p.m. on Friday, December 19. Celebrate the spirit of the season by bringing a non-perishable food item to be donated to a local food bank or animal shelter and receive a $1 discount off the purchase of a toboggan admission, and receive an ornament to place on the Chalet's community holiday tree. The Medina Community Band, under the baton of Marcus Neiman, will present their annual Winter Concert on Sunday, December 14th, at 2p, at Medina High School Main Stage Auditorium, 851 Weymouth Road, Medina. The concert will feature selections from Johann Strauss II's Die Fledermaus (Overture and vocal solo Chacun à son goût); Rossano Galante's Cry of the Last Unicorn; Steve Bulla's Hanukkah Rhapsody; David Lovrien's Minor Alterations; and, Leroy Anderson's holiday classic Sleigh Ride.

Denise Milner-Howell will be featured mezzo-soprano for the evening. She will be featured in the Strauss and Rossini's Barber of Seville: Una Voce Poco Fa and Irving Berlin's White Christmas from Holiday Inn.

The concert is free and open to the public with ample free parking in the performing arts center lot.
