Breakaway Excursions is a provider of adventure-based recreation activities located in Northeast, Ohio. We are just east of Aurora and 40 minutes from Cleveland, Akron and Youngstown. We customize excursions for individuals, families, groups and co-workers looking to share a positive experience together. We offer equipment rental, instruction and some retail products for sale. Our activities include archery, kayaking, biking, snowshoeing and traditional team building events.

Cleveland Metroparks

Hinckley Lake Boathouse & Store rents canoes, single and tandem kayaks, rowboats, motorized rowboats, stand up paddleboards, paddleboats and pontoons. The facility also offers refreshments, fishing tackle, bait, apparel, gifts and more. For more information, call 330-278-2160. If you have your own watercraft, you can launch it from the boathouse public launch ramp.

Choose a beginner kayaking class to improve paddling skills and/or a self-rescue class in case you capsize.

4th Annual Middle Bass Island Poker Kayak Day
Saturday August 4, 2018
Time: 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Location: Middle Bass Island; cost – $20. Kayakers will start and finish at the Middle Bass Island State Park beach/camping area.

The paddle around the island will include three stops (the State Park Marina, and the Middle Bass Island East Point/Peterson Woods Preserve, and Kuehnle State Wildlife Area.) A welcome packet at the start of the event, will include a description of the course and information about the stops.

Stops will be staffed with volunteers for safety and for the distribution of poker cards and snacks. A cookout including hotdogs, chips, and water will be provided while 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be determined.

Proceeds from the event will benefit signage for the Put-in-Bay Township Park District's newest preserves on Middle Bass Island. (Rain Date August 5th)

Skill Level: Beginner and up 
A beautiful afternoon paddle on the scenic Cuyahoga River in either your own kayak or one of our rental kayaks. Maybe you'll see a Great Blue Heron snagging it's dinner from the river or maybe you'll see a beaver working on his den.  Regardless though, this trip will be amazing. You'll paddle with people who love nature and the outdoors. You'll laugh; you'll float; you'll unwind and you'll just be. After our kayak trip we will all enjoy a riverside dinner followed by a social hour and bonfire.

Come out and paddle with us down the Cuyahoga River during the fading hours of daylight. Follow it up with a social hour and riverside bonfire. Many cultures celebrate the summer solstice. Let's create our own traditions with this unique paddling opportunity. ​

Please bring your own kayaks if you have them. Otherwise, you can rent one of ours. ​

Includes s'mores and banana boats.

$40 per person if you are renting a kayak
